Day Service
The Peace Hospice has a purpose-built day unit which opens onto a beautiful courtyard garden. Our Day Service is nurse led and aims to provide care and support to help maintain independence and quality of life. Each patient is offered an individualised programme of activity and weekly monitoring by the nursing and other clinical staff.
Once a referral from a Healthcare Professional has been received an assessment appointment will be arranged. If appropriate, a place will then be offered one day a week from 10.00 am to 3.30 pm with lunch provided in our restaurant. Initially attendance is weekly for three months, during which time an outpatient appointment with our Consultant will be arranged. Interventions such as infusions and blood tests can be undertaken as required during visits to our Day Service.

Our programme includes a Physiotherapist run exercise group, Occupational Therapist assessment of daily living to improve independence at home, Complementary Therapy relaxation techniques, Family Services and Spirtual Care as well as activities such as quizzes, reminiscence therapy, visiting speakers and entertainers.
Ideally all patients attending our Day Service need to be able to travel in a car. If it is not possible for a friend or family member to bring them, we are able to arrange a volunteer driver. We can also provide specially adapted transport for wheelchair users.
